FAQs

4 / Curriculum

Starting at 1 year of age, our infant room uses the ABC Jesus Loves Me curriculum to begin formally introducing various items, such as numbers, colors, shapes, animals and sounds, stories and songs, and simple sign language to help children begin to actively communicate their wants and needs while their verbal skills are still developing.  These concepts are all part of the daily interactions and play prior to 1 year of age but not formalized until 1.   Our toddler classroom is also using the ABC Jesus Loves Me curriculum designed for this age group, which aides in continuity of concepts and learning through 2 years of age.

Our Pre-k 3-year-old classroom is primarily using the ABC Jesus Loves Me curriculum with supplemental learning activities to encourage early reading and math skills, and our  Pre-K 4- and 5-year-olds are using a combination of curriculums, including The Science of Reading and ABC Jesus Loves Me, in addition to supplemental early math learning activities in preparation for kindergarten.

5/ Outdoor Policy

The center follows the public schools in determining when children are able to go outside to play.  Children will be outside when the temperature is between 30 and 90 degrees, weather permitting. Snow on the playground on sunny days is not a deterrent for outside play, so it is expected for parents to provide appropriate snow gear (gloves, hats, coats, snow pants, boots) during the winter season so children can play outside in the snow comfortably.

The 3–5-year-olds have access to a large, covered awning immediately accessible by the door, and provided the temperature is within range and the wind isn't blowing, they will be allowed outside for short periods under the awning even if it is raining or snowing to work off energy and get fresh air.

6/ Ratios

Our classroom ratios are set by the state licensing agency.  Infants through 2 year olds have a ratio of one staff member per 5 children.  3 year olds have a ratio of one staff member to 10 children and 4 & 5 year olds are one staff member to 12 children.

1 / Registration Process

To register, email firmfoundation@meekerchildcare.com, call the center at (970)878-3111, or fill out the interest form link on our website to set up a parent interview and tour the facility.  We will then email the registration forms and policies to be filled out and signed. Once the forms are completed and returned, we will collect the registration fee, deposit, and first two weeks of tuition and enroll your child.

2 / Food Policy

Parents/guardians are to provide one lunch and a morning and afternoon snack for their child each day.  We are not able to prepare or warm anything, so please provide items that can be eaten as is.  For items needing to stay cold, provide an insulated lunch container with cold packs as we aren't able to store food items in the refrigerator.  The infant room has a small fridge available to store pre-prepared bottles, breast milk, or small half gallons of milk for the infants and toddlers.  We also have a small selection of quick snacks, such as pretzels, goldfish, and fruit cups should a child run out of food and still be hungry. We are not a nut free school, so please inform us of any nut allergies so we can take appropriate precautions.

Growth Objectives

Spirtually

By providing a Bible time and by integrating a biblical worldview throughout the curriculum and learning environment, we model Christ-centered character qualities through the love of our staff and the responses given to the children in our care. Bible stories, songs, and prayer give children an awareness of God’s love for them.

Socially / Emotionally

Encouraging whole group participation activities, getting along with others, and developing a true sense of security and belonging based on their value as human beings created in the image of God, we help children grow their social and emotional skills.

Creatively

We encourage our children in the exploration of art mediums, creative experiences, and music, helping to inspire their love of the Arts.

Cognitively

Our children begin developing their learning skills through exploring and hands-on experiences that help cement key skills and building blocks for their future education.

Physically

We provide experiences that will develop large and small muscle coordination and motor skills that will aid the children in their continued growth.
